Can Squarespace customer passwords migrate to Shopify?

Inficial Shopify FAQSquarespace to Shopify

Squarespace passwords cannot be imported through Shopify’s standard customer CSV. Customer profiles can move, while the sign-in journey is configured separately. Shopify customer accounts can use passwordless email codes, so a new password is not always required; legacy password-based accounts need a different activation plan.

Test account access and any connected entitlements

Check whether the account also controls access to memberships, digital content, or subscriptions. Moving a customer profile alone does not recreate those entitlements. Decide where each service will live after the migration and what identity it will use.

Verify returning-customer sign-in using the selected Shopify account model, then inspect addresses and order history. Review duplicate or changed email addresses and prepare support guidance for them. Customer communication should explain the exact action needed, without sending a password-reset message to people who will use a passwordless flow.

What to check before deciding

  • Confirm how membership or subscription access will work.
  • Reconcile customer identity and historical-order links.
  • Test the actual account model before drafting messages.
  • Give support a process for missing history and email changes.
