Can I keep my Wix domain and SEO when moving to Shopify?

Inficial Shopify FAQWix to Shopify

The existing domain can usually be connected or transferred to Shopify. Search continuity also requires mapping old Wix URLs to Shopify destinations, creating redirects, preserving useful content and metadata, updating internal links, validating analytics and Search Console, and monitoring crawl and indexation after launch.

Treat the domain and page addresses as separate jobs

Keeping the familiar domain does not mean all page addresses stay the same. Inventory your important product, category, content, and campaign URLs before deciding where they belong in Shopify. Pay special attention to pages that bring enquiries or sales, not only pages that appear in the main navigation.

Prepare a launch sheet containing the old URL, intended destination, required content, and a verification result. Also document the domain’s DNS records so website changes do not disrupt email or another service. After launch, visit representative old links and complete a purchase journey from them. Search visibility needs monitoring; the move is not a promise of unchanged rankings.

What to check before deciding

  • Confirm ownership of the domain and access to its DNS provider.
  • Preserve mail and other non-website DNS records.
  • Test valuable old URLs against relevant live destinations.
  • Compare crawl and search evidence with the pre-launch baseline.
